Terms of Service

Effective 23 September 2026

nuze is a publishing platform where independent journalists publish stories and readers follow the journalists and topics they trust. These terms are a contract between you and [legal entity name, company number, registered address] (“nuze”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using nuze.com you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use nuze.

1. Who can use nuze

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • You must give accurate account details and keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person, one account, unless we've agreed otherwise. Impersonating anyone — a person, an outlet, a public body — is not allowed.

2. Your content

“Content” means anything you publish or post on nuze: stories, images, comments, profile details.

  • You own it. Publishing on nuze doesn't transfer your copyright to us.
  • You give us a licence to run the platform. You grant nuze a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and make derivative versions of your content (for example, resized images or the share-preview cards we generate) as needed to operate, promote and improve nuze. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except that copies may persist in backups for a limited time and in places others have already shared it.
  • You're responsible for it. You confirm you have the rights to publish what you publish, and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge and doesn't break the law or these terms.
  • Edits are public. nuze records every change to a published story in a public edit history, together with any note you attach. This is a feature of the platform and you accept it by publishing here.

3. What you can't publish

The full detail is in our Community Guidelines. In short, you must not post content that:

  • is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights (including copyright and privacy);
  • is knowingly false and presented as fact;
  • harasses, threatens or incites hatred against people;
  • contains malware, spam, scams, or undisclosed paid promotion;
  • reveals private information about others without consent (doxxing);
  • is sexual content involving minors, or promotes terrorism or serious violence.

Genuine journalism sometimes deals with difficult material. Reporting on violence, extremism or crime is welcome; celebrating or inciting it is not.

4. Moderation, suspension and removal

  • Anyone can report a story, comment or user. Reports are reviewed by nuze staff.
  • We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms or the law, or that we reasonably believe put nuze or its users at risk. A suspended account can't sign in and its content is hidden until the suspension is lifted.
  • Journalists can delete comments on their own stories and can block other users. Blocking is a personal tool, not a moderation decision by nuze.
  • We are not obliged to pre-screen content and we don't endorse anything users publish.
  • If you think we got a decision wrong, email info [at] nuze [dot] com and we'll take another look.

5. Perspectives, ratings and transparency features

Journalists may declare a political perspective on their profile. It is self-declared and unverified. Readers may rate how one-sided a story felt to them. These are opinions of users, not statements by nuze, and we don't guarantee their accuracy.

6. Verification

A verified badge means nuze staff have checked something about the account (for example, identity or press credentials) at the time of verification. It is not an endorsement of the person's reporting and it can be removed at any time.

7. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on nuze infringes your copyright, follow the process on our Copyright & Takedown page. Repeat infringers will have their accounts closed.

8. Our service

  • nuze is provided “as is”. We work hard to keep it available and accurate but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  • We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we ever shut nuze down we'll give reasonable notice and a way to export your stories.
  • We may update these terms. For significant changes we'll tell you (for example, by email or a notice on the site) at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use nuze after that means you accept the new terms.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Otherwise, to the fullest extent the law allows, nuze is not liable for any loss arising from content published by users, from your use of or inability to use nuze, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to [£100 or the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months, whichever is greater].

You agree to compensate nuze for losses we suffer because of content you published or your breach of these terms, including reasonable legal costs.

10. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from Edit profile. Deleting your account permanently removes your stories, comments, subscriptions and profile. This can't be undone.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [England and Wales], and the courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers in other countries keep any mandatory protections of their home law.
